CBD Oil Benefits & Effects
CBD Oil Benefits & Effects
Could CBD be the natural supplement that replaces numerous pharmaceuticals?
To begin discussing the many CBD oil benefits and their effects on human physiology, we need to first begin with a brief primer on the human endocannabinoid system. This system, present in all humans, is known to regulate numerous physiological processes such as memory, appetite, balance & metabolism, stress, immune function, analgesia, and sleep.
CBD oil, as a non-psychoactive cannabinoid, binds itself to the receptors in the human body (CB1 & CB2) and “corrects” imbalances that may be present; creating a more homeostatic physiological environment thus providing relief for a number of issues regulated by the endocannabinoid system.
Let’s take a look at just a few of these.
Pain Management & Inflammation
A 2012 study performed by the Journal of Experimental Medicine found that there is strong evidence that the non-psychoactive cannabinoids found in the hemp plant (non-THC) can alleviate chronic inflammatory and neuropathic pain.
Research and studies continue to show a strong link between CBD and its ability to calm inflammation-induced pain. This is especially important for athletes and active lifestyle adults who participate in rigorous activities with high levels of repetitive motion such as swimming, running, cycling, etc.
Anxiety & Stress
While the FDA has not yet verified or substantiated any claims either way, early research shows promising signs that products containing cannabidiol (CBD) may help relieve anxiety for users.
Anecdotal evidence is extremely prevalent and should not be immediately dismissed as being unscientific. An overwhelming and continuously growing group of CBD users and supporters report time after time on the amazing CBD oil benefits and effects they experienced when using CBD oil for personal use to treat their anxiety.
One thing is certain, and it’s that more research will continue to be performed, and thus we believe more and more support will come out that CBD oil can be effective in offsetting anxiety for certain users.
Sleep Patterns & Insomnia
With CBD’s reported ability to lessen anxiety it goes somewhat without saying that CBD oil is also proving to be an effective solution for treating insomnia and improving overall sleep patterns.
CBD oil has shown signs of being effective in treating people with REM Sleep Disorder by helping increase relaxation and calmness at bedtime. Much of this may have to do with CBD’s ability to reduce pain and anxiety allowing individuals to find a restful state much more easily.
Mood Regulation
A growing body of evidence continues to support the idea that imbalances in the endocannabinoid system may result in depressive and/or unsettled moods. It’s estimated that over 300 million people globally suffer from depression, and as such, the number of people taking medications, specifically SSRIs, to regulate their mood is staggering and on the rise.
The problem with many antidepressants is that the side effects are sometimes just as debilitating as the mood they’re are administered to balance. These side effects are commonly weight gain, loss of libido, and even mild flu-like symptoms.
One of the major CBD Oil benefits would of course be as a natural option for sufferers of depression or mood instabilities without the risk of the most common side effects. This could be a game-changer for persons from all walks of life well into the future.
