The correct answer to this begins with knowing where your CBD oil comes from. Cannabidiol (CBD) is found in cannabis plants, but there are TWO species of cannabis from which you can extract this compound. First, you have marijuana, which is federally illegal as of the writing of this post. The DEA lists Marijuana as a scheduled drug, so possession and/or use of marijuana and products derived from marijuana is illegal federally. The second cannabis species is hemp. Hemp is federally legal with the passage of the 2018 Farm Bill, and as such, so are the derivatives of the hemp plant. So, to answer the question of legality you need to know the source of the CBD. Hemp-derived CBD is legal federally while marijuana-derived CBD is not... that's the short answer.

Will I get "high" from CBD?

In short, no. CBD is a molecular compound found in cannabis, but it has no psychoactive capabilities. The compound in marijuana that creates a high is Tetrahydrocannabidol (THC). Would it be possible to get high from a CBD product, the answer to this is a maybe. The reason for this goes back to Question 1 above. Legal CBD from hemp can contain up to 0.3% THC and contains so little of the compound that it would be nearly impossible to get high from this trace amount. If your CBD product, however, comes from marijuana it could possibly contain a higher ratio of CBD to THC, and therefore perhaps create a high. This is why it's so important to know the source of your CBD, and then choose your products appropriately.

As availability and legalities surrounding CBD change we're likely to see more & more research on CBD become available. One thing to note is that CBD is a naturally-occurring compound. Evidence of its use through history suggests safe & effective use of cannabis plants, and we've yet to see a study showing concrete negative side effects of CBD usage. Regardless of one's position on the safety of CBD, think about it in relation to what has commonly been prescribed and taken for pain, inflammation, anxiety, and other physical & psychological ailments. Do side-by-side comparison, and we're pretty certain CBD wins in the "safety" category.

Is CBD effective? What ailments/issues does it address?

To be 100% honest, there has been very little clinical research performed as to the effectiveness of CBD to treat any physical or psychological ailments. This is almost entirely due to the historical legality of hemp & marijuana, and not because anyone is worried about safety & efficacy. While we emphatically agree that more research needs to be done on how CBD works, what it can treat, and how much needs to be administered, we also believe there's enough anecdotal, first-person information to support specific outcomes. Try it for yourself, and see if it works for you. After all, you're the best test subject you could ever hope for.

What's the best way to take (administer) CBD?

There's no right or wrong answer to this one, really. It all comes down to what you're using CBD for, how quickly you need to feel effects, and how long would you like the effects to last? On a sliding scale, vapes/inhalants get into the bloodstream most quickly, but the effects are the most short-lived. Ingestible, or metabolized CBD products will take a bit longer to feel the effects, but they can also last up to 7-8 hours. Identify what you're using CBD for, and then try different delivery methods. The right one is the right one for YOU!

What's the difference between Isolate, Broad-Spectrum & Full-Spectrum?

This one is pretty simple, and easy to remember. In short, CBD Isolate is the complete removal of all other natural compounds, flavors, and terpenes from the end product. At the complete other end of the "spectrum" from isolate we have Full-Spectrum CBD. In this case, the entire cannabinoid profile has been left intact just as it was in nature including trace or specifically-formulated amounts of THC. In the middle of this is Broad-Spectrum CBD, which is similar to Full-Spectrum, but THC has been entirely removed from the product.

Should I use a CBD Isolate, Broad-Spectrum, or Full-Spectrum CBD?

Ask this question to numerous individuals, and you're likely to get numerous different answers. Once again, your personal preference is important here. While we'd say isolates are not "ineffective", we DO believe that the best CBD solutions are found in Broad and Full-Spectrum products due to the naturally-occurring state of the cannabinoids and terpenes. While not entirely understood, there's an "entourage effect" of all the compounds working together in concert within your body. This cannot occur with an isolated CBD molecule. Whether you choose a Broad or Full-Spectrum product really comes down to your thoughts on THC, possibly drug testing, and of course the age of the person taking the product. We do not encourage THC usage of any level for persons under the age of 21.

Are medical claims touting the efficacy of CBD accurate?

No. While there's adequate anecdotal and mounting first-person support for the benefits of CBD there just is not enough research to say that CBD prevents, cures, or treats any physical or psychological ailment. Any reputable CBD brand would agree with us on this, and stay away from making medical claims, which are aimed at marketing towards consumer's fears. How can I be sure a CBD brand is legitimate and the products are safe?

Ask. Ask. Ask! The one way to ensure the brand you're wanting to try is legitimate is to ask them questions, and ensure they are being transparent. Any reputable CBD provider will be happy to tell you where they grow their plants, how they're farmed, how they extract the oils, how they manufacture & bottle, and what safety measures do they have in place to ensure quality & safety. Ask to see a product lab test!!! These should be easily accessible, and show the true cannabinoid contents, pesticide levels, heavy metals, microbes, etc. Lastly, any product that has taken these extreme measures to ensure safety also carries product liability insurance. If they aren't insured, it's likely because insurance companies don't want to take the risk!
